Back in August, I woke up to a message from Brooke on Instagram. She was searching for for a Gilbert Family Photographer and she said she loved my work and it was exactly what she was looking for. How exciting for me! Brooke and her family had never had professional photos taken before so she was new to this and wanted more information on how I operated during my sessions. This is so important to ask your photographer so you know you are a good fit for one another! I thought I’d share my response to her so maybe you can see if I’m also the right photographer for you!

“Hi Brooke! Thank you for the kind words! I’d be happy to give you some more info and you can decide if I am the right fit for you!

I love capturing real moments that document your family as they really are. I guide you into poses and give prompts to allow for natural interaction to follow. I’ll ask silly questions to get you all laughing. I’ll ask deep questions to get you guys thinking and reflecting on what makes this time of life special for you all. These things really help to evoke emotion and allow me to snap photos that mean something to you when you look back at them years from now. The photos you receive will tell a story of the session. I love being a storyteller!

I also love making mamas feel absolutely gorgeous because I know how hard it can be to get in front of the camera! I try to get beautiful angles that are complimentary to your body no matter your size and shape. I hand edit each photo focusing on the skin, hair and anything else that catches my eye.

My goal is for you to see your images and think “Dang, I look amazing!” but not feel like the images are over-processed in a way you don’t look like you. I aim for natural skin tones and vibrant colors.

With my full sessions, you have access to my client closet and my styling service where I pull outfits together for you that you can purchase or find similar items in your existing closet. Wardrobe is a huge factor into your images looking cohesive and pretty! I love dresses and outfits that provide movement and texture!

My full sessions include an hour of shoot time right before sunset so we get the best lighting. You’ll receive your fully edited gallery 2-3 weeks after your session with at least 50 high res digital images. You are free to print with my lab directly in your gallery or take your images to any lab of your choice.”

Brooke went on to book me as her Gilbert Family Photographer and both her and her family were an absolute joy to work with! A few weeks after her gallery was delivered, she wrote me a review that really made me feel so appreciated and valued. “Where do I start? Lauren is the BEST photographer! My family and I have never had family pictures done and to be honest I had no idea what to expect, how to dress, or even where to start. Lauren helped me through each step. She took the time to get to know me and my family before the shoot and I really think that helped her truly capture who we are. I let her know of a special thing my daughter and I do and told her how important it was for me to have it captured and she did not disappoint!

Now let’s talk about the styling! I wish she could pick out my clothes everyday! Her eye for details, what looks good together, and pops behind the camera is impeccable! She styled me, my husband, and daughter (she even brought two dresses with her for my daughter to choose from!).

During the shoot she made all three of us feel so comfortable and while she got a few posed pictures she got so many more little moments of us just being us! She was so patient and caring with my 4 year old, making her feel so comfortable.

Finally the finished product…there are not enough works to describe how much we loved the photos she took. I had friends and family reaching out left and right when I put them on FB telling me they have never seen such amazing pictures….my sister even asked if Lauren would be willing to fly to New Hampshire to take pics for her!!
